Two Precision crewmembers were killed when their helicopter crashed during a bucket drop while assigned to the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park

MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. — Two crewmembers with aerospace company Precision were killed when their helicopter crashed while battling the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park.

The helicopter and crew had been assigned to firefighting operations when the crash occurred on Sept. 21, Your Central Valley reported. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Eurocopter AS332L1 crashed during firefighting operations while it made a water bucket drop.

The Dome Fire, which started on Sept. 15, has burned more than 3,000 acres and was 15% contained as of Sept. 20.

Additional details about the crash and the crewmembers were not immediately available.

KGO reported the FAA will investigate the crash with the National Transportation Safety Board, which will lead the investigation.
