On average, within England and Wales - someone is killed by knife crime every day and a half, with kitchen knives being the most commonly used weapons. The Southport killings have shone a light once again on the danger of knives in the wrong hands, and the government says it will take steps to limit who has access to them. A 12-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in Birmingham yesterday has been named by police as Leo Ross. A 14-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of his murder.
