As climate impacts intensify around the world, effective monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) systems are becoming increasingly critical to tracking adaptation progress and strengthening climate resilience. This session of UNDP’s Adaptation & Resilience Dialogues explored how countries are developing and operationalizing national MEL systems to move from adaptation planning to measurable action, while responding to the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) and the new Belém Indicators. Featuring government representatives and practitioners from Thailand, the Kyrgyz Republic, Egypt, Tanzania and Panama, alongside insights from UNDP’s global National Adaptation Plan (NAP) portfolio, the discussion examined lessons learned, emerging practices and practical approaches for strengthening national adaptation tracking. Speakers also explored how robust MEL systems can help countries demonstrate progress, inform decision-making, leverage climate finance and bridge the gap between global adaptation targets and action on the ground.
