MODESTO, Calif. — A person was rescued from a house fire early Monday morning in Ceres, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched around 6:25 a.m. to a reported structure fire in the 3000 block of Burton Drive. While crews were responding, 911 callers reported that someone was still inside the home and that flames were visible from Doyle Avenue, according to MFD Capt. Joe Spani.

Firefighters made what officials described as an aggressive interior attack to search for and rescue the occupant. Crews quickly located and removed the person from the residence.

Firefighters and ambulance personnel began advanced lifesaving measures at the scene and took the person to a hospital. Officials did not immediately release the person’s condition.

During firefighting efforts, one firefighter experienced a medical issue and also was taken to a hospital. The firefighter was treated and has been released, Spani said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit.
