  • Many, many kilometers of mowed and marked walking trails over the 170 acres of private conservation sanctuary.

Wings is clad with native vegetation, including huge gums, many years of natural regeneration, and extensive areas of conservation planting surrounding peaceful grassy glades. This self-contained retreat is exclusively yours, as there are no other dwellings on the property.

All year, bearing in mind that January and February can be hot

Is your lodge involved in conservation efforts? If yes, please describe them.

Yes, for over 40 years, the property has been the site of conservation of flora and fauna with huge areas of regeneration and native replanting involving a close association with the “Trees for Life” organisation. We are also a member of the Humane Society International’s “Wildlife Land Trust.”

What other suggestions can you give to birders interested in visiting your lodge?

Bring normal birding items, such as appropriate attire for the time of year, long trousers, sturdy enclosed footwear, and, of course, binoculars.

Do you have activities for non-birders? If so, please describe.

Many many kilometers of beautiful marked and mown safe walking trails through mature native vegetation rich in fauna such as Kangaroos, echidnas, etc. 

As Wings is situated in the world-acclaimed Barossa wine region, there are many award-winning wineries with wine tasting cellar doors and cellar door restaurants available for a huge variety of menu options to suit all tastes.

There are also a large number of historic villages and small towns with restaurants, local produce, farmers markets, local arts and crafts, etc.
