The federal grant will help Rocklin expand fire staffing and prepare for a fourth station to meet growing emergency service demands

ROCKLIN, Calif. — The city of Rocklin has received a $3 million SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response) Grant to hire nine firefighters and support a future fourth fire station in east Rocklin.

Rocklin sought the grant to keep pace with population growth and increasing demand for fire services, ABC 10 reported. The funding will cover 75% of firefighter salaries and benefits for the first two years and 35% in the third, helping the city add staff over a three-year performance period.

“This grant helps strengthen our staffing levels to maintain strong response times and ensure safe, effective operations on every call,” Fire Chief Reggie Williams said. “With these additional positions, we can continue providing timely emergency services and protect both our residents and our fire personnel.”

The new firefighter positions will also help staff Rocklin’s fourth fire station, which is currently in the design phase and slated to begin construction in 2026.
