On Monday, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck southern California, and was felt by more than 10 million people. What followed was more than 250 aftershocks, making it appear like an earthquake swarm. However, this was not an earthquake swarm, but rather an aftershock sequence that kept experiencing temporary spikes due to some larger magnitude aftershocks occurring.
