Texas Family Mourns After Beloved Goats Killed and Dog Brutally Injured

A Grand Prairie, Texas family is grieving the heartbreaking loss of four beloved pet goats who were killed in broad daylight by an unknown assailant. Their loyal dog, Ali, was also left beaten and badly injured after apparently trying to protect the herd. While Ali survived, the Greens say their sense of security has been shattered and they are desperate to find answers.

Terri and David Green raised the goats as part of their family from the time they were bottle-fed as babies. Their grandchildren helped care for them, building memories and bonds that made the animals far more than livestock. “They were part of our family from the very beginning,” David explained. But on Tuesday afternoon, the family’s world was shaken when someone entered their property, shot each of the goats at close range, and left Ali bloodied and barely able to stand.

Neighbors’ security cameras later confirmed the sound of gunfire around 2:30 p.m., just across the street from an elementary school. Terri Green said the killings appeared deliberate: “They would have had to come right up to them, grab their horns, and shoot them point blank.”

Ali, the family’s dog, was found covered in mud and blood with injuries across her legs, stomach, back, ears, and head. She was hospitalized, and upon returning home remains traumatized, needing daily wound care and medication for pain and anxiety. The Greens believe she bravely tried to defend the goats but was brutally attacked in the process.

For the family, the loss is about more than their animals—it’s about the disturbing cruelty behind the act. “We can’t bring them back, but at least whoever did it needs to pay for it,” Terri said, her voice breaking. “Who does this? It’s so cruel. It makes us very concerned about our well-being.”

The Greens are now putting up a personal reward in hopes of finding out who committed this crime. For them, justice is as much about closure as it is about protecting the safety of others in their community. Their grief is mixed with fear, but also determination to ensure that such senseless violence is not ignored.
