The actual Carnival in Mindelo begins on Friday, February 13, 2026. That morning, we visit Vanina Dias from "Informacao Turistica" in Parque Nhô Roque. She is very friendly and helpful, and she always gives us good advice. Later, we walk the route where the parades will take place. The parade turns around at Praça Amílcar Cabral and then takes the parallel street back to Rua de Liberdade de Africa. For organizational reasons, the 2026 carnival in Mindelo featured fewer groups than in previous years (excluding the pandemic period). Nevertheless, the festival has lost none of its luster. Today, it is dominated by youth and school groups. We focused on two groups: ESCOLA DE ESPANIA and AGRUPAMENTO VII (E. João José dos Santos, Luís Morais, and Jovino Santos). In the evening, we had dinner at the restaurant La Pergula, which also offered musical entertainment. Am Morgen besuchen wir Vanina Dias vom „Informacao Turistica” im Parque Nhô Roque. Sie ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und hat immer einen guten Rat für uns parat. Später gehen wir die Strecke ab, auf der die Umzüge stattfinden. Am Praça Amílcar Cabral erfolgt die Kehrtwende, ab der die Parallelstraße genutzt wird, um zur Rua de Liberdade de Africa zurückzukehren. Im Jahr 2026 wurde der Karneval in Mindelo aus organisatorischen Gründen mit weniger Gruppen gefeiert als in den vergangenen Jahren (von der Zeit der Pandemie abgesehen). Dennoch hat das Fest nichts von seinem Glanz verloren. Heute steht er im Zeichen der Nachwuchs- und Schulformationen. Wir konzentrierten uns auf die Gruppen ESCOLA DE ESPANIA und AGRUPAMENTO VII (E. João José dos Santos, Luís Morais e Jovino Santos). Am Abend essen wir im Restaurant La Pergola, in dem ebenfalls musikalische Unterhaltung geboten wird.
