The Baltimore County paramedic who pled guilty in August to three counts of causing another to ingest bodily fluids has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Christopher Carroll, 36, was arrested in February following an investigation by Baltimore County Police into allegations that he recorded himself engaging in sexual acts involving items at Baltimore County Fire Department facilities and posted the videos online. Here is our earlier coverage of his guilty plea.

As part of his plead deal, prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of 30 years, with 10 years to serve, 20 years suspended, and five years of supervised probation. After hearing victim impact statements from three firefighters, Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Dennis M. Robinson Jr. rejected the prosecutor’s recommendation and sentenced Carroll to 25 years in prison.

IAFF Local 1311, Baltimore County Professional Fire Fighters Association’s president, Steve Redmer, issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Baltimore County Professional Firefighters Association, I thank Judge Robinson for recognizing the profound impact of these crimes and imposing a sentence above the recommendation. Today’s 25-year sentence represents meaningful accountability for the harm inflicted on our members.

These crimes violated the trust and dignity of people who dedicate their lives to protecting others. The physical and emotional harm to our members cannot be measured simply by the number of years imposed.

I was overwhelmed by the bravery of our members who were in the courtroom today, especially those who delivered victim impact statements. Speaking about something so deeply personal and painful takes tremendous courage. They deserved to be heard.

While today’s sentence cannot undo what happened, I hope that today’s decision provides some measure of closure for those affected. The impact on our members will continue long after this case leaves the headlines, and the IAFF Local 1311 remains committed to supporting our members.”
