Fashion and entertainment have always influenced each other. A memorable character can turn a coat, suit, pair of boots, or accessory into a style statement that audiences want to recreate in real life.

From Sex and the City to Gossip Girl, television has repeatedly shaped how people dress. Costume designers study contemporary fashion, street style, music, and culture to build wardrobes that make characters believable. Viewers then take those looks beyond the screen and incorporate elements into their own wardrobes.

Today, personal style offers more room for experimentation. Instead of following one dominant trend, younger audiences often build wardrobes around aesthetics inspired by music, social media, celebrities, movies, and streaming series.

This Fashion Month, four HBO Max titles offer plenty of inspiration. Whether you prefer sharp tailoring, punk-inspired layers, retro glamour, or understated luxury, these shows and films offer plenty of ideas to take from the screen to the street.

Power Dressing Inspired by Andrea Manuel in Call My Manager

The HBO Original Philippine series Call My Manager, adapted from the French series Dix pour cent, takes viewers inside the fictional Shine Artist Management agency.

Directed by Erik Matti and starring Judy Ann Santos, Edu Manzano, and RK Bagatsing, the series combines workplace comedy with the high-pressure world of talent management.

Judy Ann Santos plays talent manager Andrea Manuel, whose wardrobe leans heavily into polished tailoring. Her monochromatic suits in gray, black, and navy create a sophisticated power-dressing formula that works for both professional settings and smart casual occasions.

The male talent managers played by Edu Manzano and RK Bagatsing take a more relaxed approach to tailoring. Their looks retain the authority of traditional workwear while incorporating a less formal silhouette.

For a modern take on power dressing, start with a well-fitted blazer, tailored trousers, neutral colors, and minimal accessories.

New episodes of Call My Manager arrive weekly on HBO Max every Thursday.

Bring Punk Energy Into Your Wardrobe With Supergirl

Superhero fashion often focuses on costumes, but Kara Zor-El’s civilian wardrobe in Supergirl offers another source of inspiration.

Played by Milly Alcock, Kara’s off-duty style combines rugged pieces with a distinctly punk-inspired attitude. A tan-brown hooded trench coat, jeans, boots, and a Blondie T-shirt create an effortless combination that feels casual without looking careless.

The formula works because each piece has a strong identity. The trench coat provides structure, the jeans keep the outfit relaxed, and the graphic T-shirt adds personality. Statement footwear completes the look.

Costume designers Anna B. Sheppard and Michael Mooney developed a wardrobe that connected with contemporary youth style. The tan trench coat, in particular, gained attention among online shoppers following the film’s release.

You can recreate the aesthetic without copying the entire outfit. Pair a vintage-inspired band T-shirt with straight-leg jeans, a long coat, and sturdy boots for a practical everyday look.

Supergirl is now streaming on HBO Max.

Revisit Retro Style With Michael

The 2026 biographical film brings Michael Jackson’s career and distinctive fashion history to the screen. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, the film uses clothing to represent different stages of the singer’s career.

Costume designer Marci Rodgers recreates looks from Jackson’s early years with the Jackson 5 through his transformation into one of pop music’s most recognizable solo performers.

The 1980s provide some of the film’s most memorable fashion references. Among them are the red leather jacket associated with Thriller, the sparkling jacket and glove from the famous Billie Jean performance at Motown 25, the belts-and-buckles look from Bad, and the white suit and hat associated with Smooth Criminal.

These pieces demonstrate how retro fashion can return without requiring a head-to-toe recreation. A structured jacket, statement belt, white suit, or standout pair of shoes can introduce an unmistakable 1980s influence into a contemporary wardrobe.

Michael premieres on HBO Max on September 25.

Embrace Understated Luxury With MobLand Season 2

The characters of MobLand demonstrate how tailoring can communicate status without relying on obvious branding.

Starring Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Tom Hardy, the series presents a contemporary interpretation of mob-inspired style. The wardrobes emphasize quality tailoring, refined silhouettes, dark colors, and carefully selected accessories.

For the male characters, Anglo-Italian tailoring provides much of the visual language. Pieces associated with brands such as Ralph Lauren, along with Salomon footwear and Barbour-inspired outerwear, create a relaxed approach to luxury dressing.

Helen Mirren’s character Maeve Harrigan takes a different route. Her predominantly black wardrobe creates a distinctive and commanding visual identity.

Accessories complete many of the looks. Swiss watches and other understated details reinforce the series’ approach to luxury without making the outfits feel overly flashy.

For a wearable interpretation, focus on fit and fabric. A tailored jacket, dark trousers, quality knitwear, classic outerwear, and a restrained watch can create a polished wardrobe without relying on prominent logos.

MobLand Season 2 premieres on HBO Max on September 19.

Turn Streaming Inspiration Into Everyday Style

Fashion inspiration can come from almost anywhere, and today’s streaming platforms offer an endless collection of characters, eras, and aesthetics to explore.

Call My Manager offers a lesson in modern power dressing. Supergirl brings punk-inspired casual style into the spotlight. Michael revisits some of the most recognizable looks of the 1980s. MobLand explores understated tailoring and contemporary luxury.

For PLDT Home customers, these titles are part of the entertainment experience available through the Fiber Unli All Plan 1499, which bundles fiber internet with an HBO Max Standard subscription. The plan also includes Cignal TV channels, 9GB of Smart mobile data, and unlimited landline calls.

With these four titles on your watch list, your next outfit inspiration could be only a streaming session away.
