This is no small victory; the first is always the hardest.

It took 100 years to legalise same-sex marriage, cannabis, euthanasia, etc., but once the first state or country does it, it paves the way for other states and countries, and if it's morally/socially 'better', it puts pressure on them to act.

I hope that Australia can look towards other countries in outlawing shark fishing and shark finning*.

*Shark finning is illegal in Australia, but importing, using, and consuming shark fin products is perfectly legal.
