The assisted dying bill, put forward by Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, has passed its second reading in the Commons with a majority of 55 - with 330 votes in favour and 275 against. A huge chunk of those who voted for the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill are Labour MPs, including the prime minister, home secretary and chancellor - although, notably, the health secretary voted against. The bill will now go to a committee for examination, before being passed back to the Commons with any amendments - and, if it is passed again at that stage, it will go to the Lords where the process will be repeated.
