A few months after its controversial launch, Jaguar has released a video showing the Type 00 concept car cruising the streets of Paris in a rather bright ‘French Ultramarine’.
At the end of last year, British brand Jaguar unveiled an advertising campaign and images of its upcoming electric GT, dubbed the Type 00, showing it in shades of Miami Pink and London Blue.
The reveal drew global attention, with some calling the concept a “design triumph”, while others were far less favourable in their views.
While some car launches go unnoticed by the general public, this concept certainly garnered global attention. It has remained a talking point not only on the design of the concept but also on the company’s rebrand, which was launched around the same time.
Arguably, this was a clever ploy by Jaguar’s marketing team to keep the brand in the public consciousness. As automotive site Top Gear commented today: “It has been months now since that ad campaign went live and since we first laid eyes on the unashamedly pink Type 00 concept, and yet the bold and blocky show car is still creating headlines wherever it goes.”
At the launch of the Type 00 last year, Jaguar Land Rover chief creative officer Gerry McGovern said: “Type 00 is a pure expression of Jaguar's new creative philosophy. It has an unmistakeable presence. This is the result of brave, unconstrained creative thinking, and unwavering determination.”
Now this statement vehicle has been brought to life and is making a statement on the streets of Paris during Paris Fashion Week in a matte shade of French Ultramarine.
The Type 00 serves as a preview of Jaguar’s upcoming production vehicles, including a four-door electric GT expected this year, which will offer a range of up to 478 miles and rapid charging capabilities.
Talking to car publication Autocar last week, Jaguar’s managing director Rawdon Glover revealed that the proportions, long bonnet, front face and rearlight graphic of the Type 00 will be carried over to production.
