Jose Andres set up World Central Kitchen in 2010 to help feed those at risk of hunger in the world's war and disaster zones. The charity quickly moved into Ukraine when Russia invaded four years ago. But the work of the organisation came into focus in 2024 when of seven of their volunteers were killed in an Israeli air strike in Gaza.
