Yesterday, Hawaii's Kilauea volcano produced a series of towering 1,300 foot high sustained lava fountains! This potentially involved 2 new vents which in addition to the 2 preexisting vents output lava at a rate as high as 780 cubic meters per second. The eruptive episode, episode 42, lasted for nearly 10 hours and output 11.4 million cubic meters of 1,200 degrees Celsius basaltic lava. Today's video is analyzed by a geologist and volcanologist.
