This morning, more than 700 foot high lava fountains erupted at Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, specifically in the southwest of its summit caldera. This occurred after a record setting 54 day long period of no lava fountaining (at least record setting since episodic activity began on December 23rd 2024). Today's video discusses this scenic eruption and why it might have happened.
