The Covington Fire Department welcomed 13 new firefighters after graduates completed a rigorous 13-week academy

COVINGTON, Ky. — The city of Covington formally swore in 13 new Covington Fire Department recruits, the department’s largest recruit class since 2004.

The new firefighters completed a 13-week academy focused on the physical, technical and emotional demands of the job, and many are already assigned to neighborhood stations and serving the community, the city said in a press release.

“The size of this class reflects our commitment to maintaining a high level of emergency response,” Covington Fire Chief Corey Deye said. “Each recruit has demonstrated the dedication and character required to serve Covington. Their future service and sacrifice will help keep our community safe, and we’re proud to officially welcome them to the Covington Fire Department family.”

City officials, fire department leaders and family members attended the ceremony, celebrating a major milestone in the recruits’ careers and a significant investment in public safety for Covington.
