Another series of major eruptions just occurred at the Lewotobi volcano, being preceded by a series of up to 6,600 foot or 2-kilometer-high lava fountains. Pyroclastic flows from a series of sub-plinian and major vulcanian eruptions incinerated an area of 18.6 square kilometers, and as a result Lewotobi's exclusion zone was further expanded, triggering new evacuations. Today's video discusses the eruption, what has happened recently, and the overall eruption chronology the latest Lewotobi eruption which started in December of 2023.
