That means the trial has collapsed without a verdict and the court will reconvene at the end of the month to decide the next steps. The decision follows a last-ditch appeal from the defence after the jury said earlier that "with a heavy heart" they were "unable to come to a unanimous decision". Clancy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children, and whilst she does not deny killing them, her defence argues that she was unable to separate right from wrong, due to her postpartum psychosis.
