The Tulsa Fire Department announced Assistant Fire Marshal Stephen Mixon died after suffering a medical emergency while on duty

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire Department announced the death of Assistant Fire Marshal Stephen Mixon after he suffered a medical emergency while on duty.

In a Facebook post on Jan. 2, the department said it would not release additional details as notifications were still being made. No cause of death has been reported.

News On 6 reported that Mixon joined the Tulsa Fire Department and entered the fire academy in 1998, serving for nearly 28 years.

Most recently, he worked in the department’s Code Enforcement Office as an assistant fire marshal.
