Underneath a section of Japan, a presumed intrusion of magma is occurring, potentially associated with a volcanic complex that hasn't erupted in nearly 9,000 years. This has caused a swarm of more than 2,000 earthquakes, including many low frequency earthquakes. However, this swarm is probably harmless, and an eruption anytime soon in the Abu volcanic fields seems absurdly unlikely. I will explain why this is likely the case through the analysis of a geologist.
