The Tories claim they are "sounding the alarm" that in 2027, people in receipt of the state pension could have to start paying tax on it because of frozen tax thresholds. But Sky's Wilfred Frost put to shadow cabinet minister Alex Burghart in a very testy exchange that not only is this over 600 days away, but the chancellor has announced the tax thresholds - repeatedly frozen by the Tories - would be unfrozen in April 2028. In a wide-ranging interview, the Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster was also asked about the government's plan to recognise a Palestinian state and migrant hotels.
