Josh Gates ventures into Ecuador’s remote highlands in search of Atahualpa, the last great ruler of the Inca Empire. After the Spanish conquest, his body was mummified, but the royal remains later vanished. According to legend, the mummy retained power over the world of the living, and its disappearance has kept the mystery alive for centuries. Following historical documents, ancient Inca routes and archaeological clues, Josh investigates whether the lost burial site of this powerful ruler can finally be found. Could the evidence lead to the missing mummy of a king who, legend says, refused to be forgotten?
