The rocks you are looking at surprisingly are not tilted or slanted. They exist in an essentially flat rock unit dated to more than 100 million years ago. While this might sound strange, this represents a distinct sedimentary structure known as cross-bedding. Today's video will discuss this structure and how it forms, which is very common in the American southwest.
