MCKINNEY, Texas — The McKinney Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team says years of training paid off during a technical rescue on the Sam Rayburn Tollway.
Firefighters arrived within minutes on Oct. 22 and devised a plan to reach a tow truck driver whose cab was left dangling over a concrete barrier after he swerved to avoid a disabled vehicle and struck the wall, NBC DFW reported.

“I just prayed, I said, ‘God, give me the clarity, the courage, the calmness to do my job.’ And from there, it was just kind of like, here we go,” Firefighter/Paramedic Jordan Goode said.
Firefighters broke through the cab window, helped the driver onto a ladder and carefully guided him down to safety.
“This is a TV moment almost. This is crazy. There was some downtime waiting for stuff to get set up and kind of take a second and this is a once-in-a-lifetime call,” Firefighter/Paramedic Dalton Bentley added.
The team called the daring rescue one of their most unforgettable moments, saving a life on the edge.
