This week, a major volcanic eruption occurred at the Lewotobi volcano, resulting in pyroclastic flows incinerating an area of more than 13 square kilometers. Meanwhile, in Japan, the alert level was raised at the Miyakejima volcano in response to a swarm of earthquakes. And, in Hawaii, the Kilauea volcano produced another series of more than 1,000 foot high lava fountains. This video will discuss these stories and list the 47 volcanoes which are actively erupting around the planet through the perspective of a geologist.
