Upgrading a Maya account can now be more convenient for eligible users. Maya has introduced ID-less verification, allowing customers to complete the account upgrade process without photographing or uploading a physical government-issued ID.

Upgrading Your Maya Account Just Got Easier with ID-less Verification

Instead, users can begin the verification process using personal details they already know, such as their name and date of birth. Maya then checks these details against records from the Philippine Statistics Authority’s National ID eVerify, an identity-verification service connected to the Philippine Identification System.

The new process can reduce the information users need to prepare and enter, making the account upgrade experience more straightforward.

Step 1: Start With Your Name and Birthday

If you do not have a physical ID available, you can enter your name and date of birth when prompted during the account upgrade process.

Maya checks the information against your National ID records through National ID eVerify.

Users who have their National ID number available can also use it instead. If the information is successfully verified, there is no need to take a photo of a physical ID or upload an ID document.

Step 2: Take a Video Selfie

After the National ID verification, Maya will ask you to record a quick selfie video.

The video selfie works alongside the National ID verification to help confirm your identity. This forms part of the identity checks required when upgrading your Maya account.

Step 3: Provide Additional Information Only When Needed

The updated process is designed to reduce repetitive data entry.

Once information has been verified through the available identity-verification systems, Maya may request additional details only when necessary to complete the process.

For eligible users, this means fewer details to type and no need to search for a physical ID just to take a photo of it.

What If National ID eVerify Cannot Verify Your Details?

If Maya cannot successfully verify your information through National ID eVerify, you can continue with the regular ID-upload process.

You do not have to restart the entire account upgrade process. Instead, you can proceed with the standard verification method and provide the required identification document.

Security Checks Remain Part of the Process

Although the process requires less information from users, Maya continues to conduct applicable identity verification, screening, and regulatory checks.

AI and automation help process routine verification tasks. Cases that require additional assessment can be referred for human review.

This approach allows Maya to simplify the customer-facing process while maintaining the identity and compliance checks required for account upgrades.

A More Convenient Way to Upgrade Your Maya Account

For eligible users, Maya’s ID-less verification provides an alternative to the traditional process of photographing and uploading a physical ID.

You may only need your name, birthday, and a quick video selfie to get started. If your information cannot be verified through National ID eVerify, you can switch to the regular ID-upload process.
