Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIn Brazil’s semi-arid northeast, water scarcity, land degradation and recurring droughts threaten the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. In Pernambuco, Centro de Desenvolvimento Agroecológico Sabiá (Centro Sabiá) is working with local communities to turn wastewater into a resource. Supported by the UNDP-Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA), the RAC-SAF system combines greywater reuse and agroforestry by filtering household wastewater and using it to irrigate small agroforests. The initiative aims to establish 30 agroforests, benefiting more than 600 people, over half of them women, while strengthening food security, generating income and building resilience in one of Brazil’s driest regions.
