Video from Matthew Gregoire (sparkywfd) shot February 17th in Worcester, Massachusetts. Here’s some of what he wrote about the fire:
Shortly after 5am on Monday, February 17th, multiple calls came in reporting a structure fire. Engine 5 struck a 2nd alarm enroute after seeing the flames from a distance. A 3rd alarm was struck minutes after command arrived on the scene. Icy and snowy conditions hampered response and firefighting efforts as companies who were on a previous call, had a delayed response because they were stuck on an icy street and had to wait for a sander to salt the street.
Matthew also got this scene the same night:
Here’s what he wrote:
Worcester, Ma is notorious for treacherous road conditions in the winter. As Worcester Engine 5 was clearing a scene and descending icy Norwood St, the truck slid into a snow bank, luckily stopping the truck from hitting the building. The FD called for a sander multiple times to come out and salt the road so they could proceed down the hill. An hour and fifteen minutes later, a sander finally showed up and salted the hill so the engine could be safely moved. Less than a half hour later, Engine 5 was first due at a 3 alarm fire.
