Firefighters from multiple departments battled a large residential fire in Lincoln for nearly nine hours, overcoming water supply challenges

LINCOLN, N.H. — Firefighters from as far as 40 miles away were dispatched to Lincoln on Saturday night to extinguish a blaze that destroyed a home near Loon Mountain Resort.

Lincoln Fire Chief Michael Weden said the fire started in a large residence on Crooked Mountain Road. The building was a total loss due to the damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Weden said it took crews about nine hours to completely extinguish the fire, with the first emergency responders arriving on the scene just after 7 p.m. and the last unit clearing the scene at 4 a.m. on Sunday.

“Trying to get the hot spots that kept flaring up in the home was the biggest issue,” Weden said. “We also had some water issues and had to establish a secondary water supply from a fill site on Profile Drive in Woodstock.”

The large scale of the home and property also presented challenges, Weden said. The local fire chief estimated the home had a multimillion-dollar value.

The incident was raised to three alarms, with personnel from other departments being called in for assistance. Fire departments from Lancaster, Libson, New Hampton, Plymouth and Rumney responded to the fire.
