The epicenter was located in Herrera Province, at a depth of approximately 12.6 kilometers. Strong shaking rocked Panama City, forcing residents and office workers to evacuate buildings. More than 80 aftershocks were recorded by the morning of October 10, including one exceeding magnitude 6.0. Damage was reported in Herrera, Veraguas, Los Santos, and Coclé provinces. In Penonomé, part of a hotel facade collapsed, while historic churches suffered structural damage. Roads and residential buildings developed cracks, and at least two people were reported injured. Power outages affected six provinces, while Tocumen International Airport and two Panama City Metro lines temporarily suspended operations. Tsunami warnings were issued for several Pacific coastal areas before being canceled, and the Panama Canal continued operating normally. Authorities inspected damaged infrastructure as President José Raúl Mulino urged residents to remain calm.
