The March to September 2021 eruption of Geldingadalir volcano did not generate a single vent, but rather a chain of several vents located along a chain. This chain represented the initial fissure which eruptive activity occurred from. These smaller spatter cones later became dormant as the main larger spatter cone siphoned material away.
